Lesson 2-2 Adding and Subtracting Rational Numbers

We began Chapter 2 on Thursday, September 6th.  We started with Lesson 2-2 (because we previously covered the material in lesson 2-1 as a prerequisite skill).  This lesson was over adding and subtracting rational numbersWe say rational numbers instead of integers because we are also applying these operations to fractions and decimals.

This is one of my favorite lessons in Algebra I!  I like it so much because of the song!!!!!  Students, you know what I'm talking about. :)  Just in case you have forgotten..... Here are the lyrics to this lovely song.  Please note it is set to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

Same signs add and keep
Different signs subtract
Use the sign of the bigger number
Then you'll be exact!
